Harana Kay Maria
Last November 9, 2023, SMians junior and senior high students assemble at the school auditorium for the annual “Harana Kay Maria.”
For weeks, SMIS students had been preparing, choreographing, and practicing their performances for an event honoring Mother Mary. On Wednesday, November 8, a day before the event, each grade level had a general stage practice in the auditorium.
Finally, on the 9th, the children arrived at school dressed in their costumes, eager to celebrate in the afternoon, but first they went through their varied lesson plans to prepare for the festivities.
By 3 p.m., all students in Grades 7 to 12, together with instructors and support personnel, assembled in the auditorium, apprehensive but eager to see the presentations from each grade level. Following their official welcomes to the occasion, SCO President Samuel Adrian S. Vergara and Vice President Jenny Joy R. Cap-atan announced the arrival of the school principal, Sr. Luzvisminda Y. Villar, SMI. In her opening remarks, Sister cited St. Augustine.
She explained to the children that singingโin this case, serenading the Virgin Maryโwas an act of prayer and devotion, and that it would also bring the community together in a sincere sacrifice made in her honor for her intercession.
